9 MAY 2014:
RES INSTRUCTS NEW CONTRACTOR AT JACK’S LANE WIND FARM

The construction of RES’ Jack’s Lane Wind Farm – situated between North Creake, Syderstone and Stanhoe, near Fakenham in North West Norfolk – will continue to progress in line with the original programme using the expertise of new contractor McNicholas Construction Services Ltd.

Leading British renewable energy developer RES recently terminated its contract with Askam Construction Ltd – the main contractor originally awarded the main civils contract – following Askam’s declaration of insolvency and entry into administration. As a result, RES has instructed alternative contractor McNicholas Construction Services Ltd to continue the works.

Gary Scrowther, RES’ Construction Site Manager, commented;
“We were disappointed to learn that Askam would be unable to fulfil the contract. However, progress has been made through activity such as ongoing ecology work - and we are delighted that our construction programme will remain on schedule. We look forward to working with the McNicholas team to combine our expertise and ensure Jacks Lane Wind Farm is constructed on time and to the highest standard.

“RES remains committed to keeping the local community informed through progress updates on the project website and the distribution of a second newsletter as we near turbine delivery this autumn.”

Turbine components are due to arrive on site in October 2014 as planned and full electricity generation is targeted for spring 2015.

With an installed capacity of 15 megawatts (MW), the six turbine Jack’s Lane Wind Farm could generate sufficient renewable electricity to meet the average needs of more than 10,600 homes each year.
