FIRST TURBINE FOUNDATION POURED

‘T3’ was the first turbine foundation to undergo a concrete pour on site at Jack’s Lane Wind Farm last month. The hexagonal steel frame affixed to the bolt cage forms the shape of the foundation and the concrete is installed in two separate concrete pours. The workmen in the photo below make sure each gap is filled and the completed foundation has a smooth surface before it is left to cure until it is strong enough to cover back over.  Selected material from the base excavation is then placed and compacted on top of the newly formed base with only the rim of the bolt cage visible for connecting to the turbine tower.
