8 AUGUST 2014:
JACK’S LANE WIND FARM IS TAKING SHAPE

There have been exciting developments at Jack’s Lane Wind Farm over the past few weeks. As the roadworks on the C479 Barwick Road near completion, the site is really starting to take shape with the installation of the main site offices and finished stabilization works on all site tracks and turbine hardstandings (which take the weight of the cranes during turbine erection) in readiness for continued works.

In addition to the construction of the control building, eagle-eyed residents may have seen excavation work begin on some turbine foundations. The first bolt cage - which is what each turbine tower will affix to once they are encased in concrete foundations - was lowered into place at on Thursday 31 July 2014 (see below).

The pleasant weather has had no impact so far on the construction programme.

Turbine components are due to arrive on site late September/early October. A dry run of the route to site is scheduled for Wednesday 20th August to ensure the abnormal load deliveries arrive promptly and with minimal disruption to the local community. If we continue on schedule, the first turbine is expected to be erected in November 2014.

We will keep you updated as works progress on site.
