15 JANUARY 2013:
LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO MAXIMISE WIND FARM BENEFITS

RES has welcomed the High Court's decision to uphold planning permission for Jack's Lane Wind Farm following a legal challenge.

Helen Wilson, RES Project Manager, says: "We are delighted that the planning permission has been upheld, and that everyone has had full opportunity to make their views known. It is now time for RES and the local communities around Jack's Lane Wind Farm to work together to ensure that we maximise the positive benefits that this renewable energy project will bring to the local area, both economically and environmentally."

The benefits RES refers to include direct and indirect employment opportunities and a Community Benefit Fund of around £27,000 per year. Once operational, Jack's Lane Wind Farm will be capable of generating sufficient renewable electricity to meet the average needs of around 8,000 homes.

Helen Wilson concludes: "We have always been confident that the wind farm would be a positive asset at both national and local level and the High Court ruling upholds this view. We now look forward to being a good neighbour and working with local people and the planning authority to finalise the project and ensure it is a genuine asset to the area throughout its lifetime."

RES will keep the local community fully informed throughout the period leading up to and during construction. Construction is expected to begin in late 2013 and will take between 9 and 12 months.
